So a month ago, we were at Lemon Grove County Library and the colorful cover of a book on the bottom shelf caught my eye. I pulled it out, and read the title. ‘Truly, Madly, Sheeply’ by Heather Frederick. I read the summary, flipped through it, and decided to check it out.
Fast forward to the next day: I’d finished the book and loved it!! It happened to be one of a four-book series about a small town called Pumpkin Falls, and a group of kids who joined together to solve mysteries in their hometown. The main character, Truly Lovejoy (I know—kind of a weird name) is funny, relatable, and enjoyable to read about. I liked all the characters, actually.
The author packs in all sorts of historical facts and interesting aspects about living in a small town. Being from San Diego, a massive city, I’m not used to that but I did like the change of pace!!
Funnily enough, I read the Pumpkin Falls series backwards 😅 ‘Truly, Madly, Sheeply’ had been the fourth book, and for some reason, I ended up reading it in backwards order. That’s NOT what I normally do. However, it was a new experience for me and didn’t ruin anything about the books.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that I LOVED these books and definitely recommend them!! They’re aimed more for elementary-age (mostly 3rd-5th) but I personally think that you should read whatever you can and not be limited by your age. And kid books are some of the best books in the world.
I TRULY believe that you’ll like reading about the Pumpkin Falls Private Eyes. That’s all for now!! Happy reading!!📚☺️☀️
