My sister, dad and I recently finished reading the Chronicles of Narnia. I loved these books so much!! The adventures of the Pevensies and the creatures of Narnia are priceless and every single book is a work of art. Here’s a quick summary of each one:
Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe
The four Pevensies (Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy) discover Narnia
through a magical Wardrobe.
In Narnia, the discover that they are the chosen kings and queens that will help bring down the evil white witch.
This witch rules over the land with an eternal winter. But with Aslan, the real supreme ruler of Narnia, they are able to battle the Witch and her forces and save Narnia.
Prince Caspian
In Prince Caspian, the Pevensies return to Narnia a year later.
The young Prince Caspian needs their help to restore his rightful place on the throne and bring down his evil uncle Miraz.
And so the trees and animals, who’d gone wild and dormant, reawaken and rise to help Caspian become prince again. Once more, with the help of Aslan, they vanquish the evil and the Pevensies go home–permanently, for some of them.
Voyage of the Dawn Treader
In their third adventure, Pevensies find their way back into Narnia. This
time it is only Edmund, Lucy, and their unpleasant cousin, Eustace.

They join the now-grown Prince Caspian on a voyage across the sea to find and bring home seven important lords of Narnia and to discover the
end of the world.
Silver Chair
In the Silver Chair, Eustace is brought back to Narnia, this time with his friend Jill. Caspian has passed away, but his son Prince Rilian is believed to be still alive—though he went missing years ago.
Eustace, Jill, and a gloomy Marsh-Wiggle named Puddleglum set out to find the prince and bring him back to reign over Narnia.
After a long and strenuous journey, they finally rescue Rilian from a suspicious Emerald Witch and her cursed silver chair, bringing him home to celebration.
Horse and his Boy
The horse and his boy goes back in time to when Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy were the rulers of Narnia.
It follows the story of a Calormene slave named Shasta, who escapes his cruel master on a talking horse named Bree. They head for Narnia, joined by another Narnian talking horse, Hwin, and her Calormene rider, a young girl named Aravis.
Together they save Narnia from invasion. They also discover that Shasta, otherwise known as Prince Cor, is the true heir to Archenland, a separate part of narnia.
Magicians Nephew
This book also goes back in time, to when Aslan first created Narnia.
A boy and girl from the human world, Digory Kirk and Polly Plummer, accidentally wake up the White Witch for the first time. She follows them to the Wood Between Worlds, where they all tumble into a brand new World.
There, Aslan stands alone, breathing life into animals, falling stars, and creating the world now known as Narnia.
The Witch disappears, and Digory and Polly are sent home with a healing apple for Digory’s mom, who had been deathly sick.
Last Battle
An ape named Shift disguises his attendant as Aslan and tricks Narnia to believe he, Shift, is Aslan’s ‘messenger’. He claims Aslan has given him the right to enslave Narnia, and the Narnians fearfully cooperate.
Only when King Terian of Narnia joins forces with Eustace and Jill do they stand a chance to defeat Shift. And, like always, with Aslan’s help, they do so.
Aslan leads his repentant subjects into a new Narnia, where everything is much like the old narnia—but better.
Thoughts and Highlights
In my opinion, these books are some of the greatest ones ever. Partly because they were written back when most books were kinda dry and somewhat uninteresting–but C.S Lewis was able to come up with seven unique and engaging novels for kids and adults alike.
My favorite book is Prince Caspian, because I really liked the way it was not only about the Pevensies, but about Caspian and the other narnians.
As for favorite characters…my top four are Edmund, Caspian, Reepicheep, and Aravis. Edmund and Aravis I like because they didn’t really deserve to stay in Narnia, but Aslan loved them and took them in anyway.
Caspian is one of my favorites because his backstory is really cool and is just overall an awesome character.
And Reepicheep? Do I really need to explain why I love the witty, loyal, sword-fighting mouse?
Anyways, that’s all for now. Hope you’ll enjoy The Chronicles of Narnia as much as I do!!
